The International School of Cluj HOUSE SYSTEM
The houses were created in order to motivate students to work harder and in order to make them feel they belong to something. They also build a good character in each of the students and teach them to work in a team. The houses help students and teachers to know each other better (to be like a big family) and have fun together.
Each house has a name, a logo and a motto, this are used in order to create a team, a new identity. Every student that is in one of the houses feels more close to the school, as the groups are formed in condition to create a more familiar and friendly place. Children get to know each other and learn to cooperate and work as a team.
The students are divided in three groups, which represent the houses. First, they were named Annoying Fairies, Crazy Witches and Silly Wizards, but because of the importance of the houses, the names where changed in Red Bears, Blue Wolves and Golden Eagles. These names were chosen in order to be in contrast with the colours from the Romanian flag and the animals that can be found in our country. All the students are split into these houses randomly and all the members of the houses have to gain house points for their house.
The first House is called ‘The Red Bears’. As the name says the house’s colour
is red and the symbol is a bear’s paw. The house captain is Theodor Irimia,
and the vice-captain is Mara Ivascau.
The second House is called ‘The Blue Wolves’. The house’s colour is blue and
the symbol is the wolf. The house captain is Oana Pacurar, whilst Alexia
Cupsa, is the vice-captain.
The last House is ‘The Golden Eagles’ one. The colour which represents it is yellow and the symbol is the eagle. The captain is Vlad Muresan, and the vice-captain is Alexiana Cimpean.
Pupils work in teams to get “House Points”, to compete against the other houses. At the end of each week the total points are added up for each house and there is a competition for the house that gets the biggest number of points at the end of the year.
Furthermore, there are competitions related to sports twice a year, called the house games which are usually days in which all the houses meet and compete in games and sports to get more house points and win a cup, which is usually presented to the new house games winners, by the previous winners.
